Following in the true tradition of quilt making, the quilts I designed and hand printed to be pieced together by prisoners have taken years to complete. But finally here they are!! I'm really pleased with the results and its nice to see how the design has been interpreted by the prisoners. They are worth seeing in the flesh as there are many hand embroidered and quilted details that cannot be seen here. They will be for sale at an event organised by Fine Cell Work in the Autumn, which I will post about nearer the time. If you don't know about Fine Cell Work then do look them up they are a very interesting charity working with prisoners. (link to the right)
Hand built ceramics, hand painted textiles, paintings and some of the stuff in between by Rose de Borman (while the website is being worked on)
I travel frequently to source antique textiles for design companies. This personal work and research also forms the basis for other applications into more commercial design projects in fashion, interiors and illustration. Clients across fields range from The New Craftsmen, Studio Reed, Ports 1960, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Liberty and Tsumouri Chisato, to The Museum of British Folklore, Virginia White Collection, Heal's, Fine Cell Work, Anthropologie, Metronomy and La Cigale.
